My Resume
My teaching rounds and my other experiences shown me the its communication and teamwork that are essential to a school environment. From big things like supporting each other, to smaller, but still important things like making sure the office staff and the IT technician are included in the morning tea and all staff being welcoming to student teachers!

While I have not been in any one school long enough to work a large variety of people, I have had a lot of teamwork experience in other aspects of my life.

Professional Development Week at Deakin University

During Semester 1 this year, I worked with a group of my peers to develop a Professional Development Week for all final-year education students at Deakin.
PD Week team
Working from the professional concerns and needs of the cohort, I communicated with presenters and other team members to ensure that the sessions were useful and engaging.

With over 200 students attending sessions during the week, I feel very positive about the contribution I made to my fellow professionals.

Dance Teaching

dance teachingFor many years I have worked as an assistant dance teacher at a creative dance school, Over The Moon Yoga & Dance Studio. For the last two years I have taught a class for kinder and then prep-age students in partnership with my sister. The sharing that these team-teaching situations have enabled have helped me to grow as a reflective, continuously learning teacher, and the experience of teaching such young children has benefited my classroom management skills and my understandings of the background of my secondary students.

Over The Moon Yoga & Dance Studio - Annual Dance Performance

dancing peopleIn previous years I have contributed to the team that organises and runs the performance at my dance school, by sewing costumes, choreographing, coordinating various elements and helping backstage.

This year I have become a member of the main planning committee, and taken on the role of Backstage Manager. This has involved coordinating dance teachers, parents, and 190 students!

Though tired by the end of the performance weekend, I am always happy that all of our work resulted in the smooth running of the show and most importantly a powerful and enjoyable learning experience for the dance students.
